As a writer, I need a second set of eyes.  I count on my trusted friends to help me step outside my writing to see what’s working and what’s not.

As an experienced writing coach, I can be that second set of eyes for you.   My goal is to provide a critique that inspires you to jump back into your writing with new energy and a clear sense of direction.

I can help you:

  • See sparks of brilliance in your writing that need polishing
  • Clear up messy structural issues
  • Focus on what matters most
  • Cut to the chase
  • Bring life to the timid parts of your writing

What You Can Expect From Me

I edit children’s literature, from picture books to young adult novels.

Whether it’s a picture book or a full-length novel, I’ll read your piece twice.  I’ll read it the first time for enjoyment and to get a sense of the big picture. When I read it a second time, I’ll analyze structure, plot, pacing, character development, voice, and craft.

I’ll give you a written response pinpointing areas of strength.  And I’ll give you feedback on areas that need revision, providing concrete suggestions for ways to move forward.  I’ll also make detailed margin notes within the manuscript.

After you digest the critique, we’ll set up a phone conversation so you can ask questions and get further clarity.

Reviews

Thank you so much for your very thorough and thoughtful edit! Your suggestions are so helpful!  I’m so thankful for your analysis. You combed through my story, paying careful attention to the characters and plot, which I really appreciate. I really like that you focused on the big picture and the smaller plots, chapter by chapter, as well. I liked that you told me what was working in the story, too. Thanks again!

Constance, I am so pleased with your manuscript review. Your guidance has enabled me to craft a much- improved story. You give specific actionable feedback while enabling me to tell my own story. My book is still a work in progress but with your coaching I am taking it to the next level. I look forward to working with you in the future.
